Plus, you can customize it to your liking by adding more or less sugar depending on how sweet you like it. In this post, I’ll be sharing multiple variations of the recipe, so you can choose which one suits your taste buds best!

Apfelmus 1

Apfelmus mit Zimt

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg apples
  • 100 g sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions:

  • Peel and core the apples, then slice them into thin pieces.
  • Add the apple slices to a pot with a little bit of water (just enough to cover the bottom of the pot).
  • Heat the pot over medium-high heat and stir occasionally until the apples begin to soften.
  • Add the sugar and cinnamon to the pot and stir until well combined.
  • Reduce the heat to low and continue to cook the apples until they are soft and have broken down into a sauce-like texture (about 20-30 minutes).
  • Remove from heat and allow to cool before transferring to an airtight container.

How to prepare:

  • Enjoy on its own or use it as a topping on pancakes, waffles, ice cream, or oatmeal.

Apfelmus Kuchen

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg apples
  • 150 g sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1 sheet puff pastry

Instructions:

  • Peel and core the apples, then slice them into thin pieces.
  • Combine the apples, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice in a pot and cook over medium heat until the apples have broken down into a sauce-like texture (about 20-30 minutes).
  • Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
  • Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into 6 even-sized squares.
  • Spread a generous amount of the Apfelmus onto each square of pastry.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool before serving.

Thermomix Apfelmus

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg apples
  • 50 g sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 lemon, juiced

Instructions:

  • Peel and core the apples, then slice them into thin pieces.
  • Add the apple slices, sugar, cinnamon stick, and lemon juice to your Thermomix and cook on Varoma setting for 20-25 minutes.
  • Blend the cooked apples on speed 5 for about 20 seconds or until smooth.
  • Remove from the Thermomix and allow to cool before transferring to an airtight container.

How to prepare:

  • Use as a topping for your morning yogurt or oatmeal.
  • Serve alongside pork chops for a savory-sweet combo.
